  • Cross-posting because, might as well. I've spent 3 nights in hospital and how much more time I spend here depends on how this body behaves. It's also been just one of a series of unexpected crises this month including other family members getting dengue fever, data access issues, laptop dying, losing and having to rewrite papers, cab drivers who can't find my house during emergencies, I've seriously lost track and have dropped "minor" stuff from this list. Stressful doesn't begin to describe the experiences. Hellish maybe. Last night was one for the personal record books and not in nice ways, but we'll keep TMI out of here. But tl;dr: Look, my first blood transfusion! If you wanna know my blood type, you gotta be positive. #hospital #sick #sickerjokes

  • The kid's been bundled off to school this morning because the hols are over (yay, whew, finally, aurgh). Last night, I gave her a secondhand Enid Blyton book that I found on Saturday--same book from my childhood that was among those I learnt my Greek mythology from. She flipped through it and recognised Pandora's name, giving her own summary of the story. "Oh hey, " I said, ever the show-off, "I made a picture of her." (Google Image Search is awesome.) Kiddo obliged me by looking at my phone. "Mummy, it's so cool you can just do that." "Shyeah."
